OpenCFD® Limited, located in the UK, develops OpenFOAM® a free, open source CFD software package which it distributes through the OpenFOAM Foundation. OpenCFD provides full commercial support, including software support, contracted developments and training courses.
OpenCFD Limited was established in 2004 to coincide with the release of the OpenFOAM software under general public licence. The company was founded by: Henry Weller, the creator of OpenFOAM and is its chief developer from inception to the present day; Chris Greenshields, Director of Engineering Operations; and, Mattijs Janssens, prolific core developer and creator of snappyHexMesh. In 2012, OpenCFD became part of the ESI Group following acquisition from SGI, who acquired OpenCFD in 2011.
