Today’s core-centric mobile network architectures cannot sufficiently support use cases which require on-demand mobile coverage or ultra-low latency, or both. Our vision is that Mobile Edge Cloud Computing will enable applications which have not been possible before.
We develop highly optimized system solutions which are based on cloud computing principles, tightly integrated with 3GPP mobile network elements. We are fundamentally simplifying network operability while meeting state-of-the-art security requirements.
Based on own LTE end-to-end testing capabilities, we also offer application integration and testing.
Two elements to build an LTE network
Only two network elements are needed for building an ultra-compact and easy-to-operate private LTE network –
- MECSware’s Mobile Edge Cloud Server (MECS) and an
- LTE Base Station, also known as evolved NodeB (eNB).
MECS – an ultra-compact, all-in-one solution
Built on top of a robust hardware platform, the MECS contains an LTE Core Network (EPC) and an Element Management System – the Micro EMS – for operating the EPC and connected LTE Base Stations.
The Mobile Edge Cloud Server does not only include the complete network infrastructure but can also host application software, the MECS Apps. MECS Apps are running inside Virtual Machines (VM) which are supported by the Micro Cloud inside the MECS. The KVM based Micro Cloud provides computing resources and storage capacity to the applications and connects them on the shortest possible path through the private LTE network with the user devices. Through the adoption of industry-standard cloud computing principles, the integration of customer-specific application software will be greatly accelerated. This approach provides for maximum flexibility regarding the Operating System running in the guest machine. Thus, many existing server applications can be easily converted into a MECS App.
Administrative tasks can be performed on the MECS Dashboard, using a Web browser. The MECS Dashboard can be accessed locally as well as remotely.
