CloudGenix was founded in 2013 in San Jose, CA by an executive team with over 50 combined years of experience building products used in the world’s largest and most resilient, performant, and highly available networks. Backed by leading investment partners including Charles River Ventures, Mayfield, Intel Capital, and Bain Capital Ventures, CloudGenix has established itself as a recognized leader in SD-WAN. Further, CloudGenix has been named a Cool Vendor by Gartner in 2015, and named an SD-WAN Innovator by IDC in 2017 – two leading analyst firms with global reach.
Most SD-WAN solutions are limited in the value they can provide due to a packet or flow-centered architecture. Packets and flows provide practically no insight into the application, its performance, or its behavior, meaning the majority of the enforcement functions of the SD-WAN solution are limited to link reachability and basic traffic classification.
CloudGenix AppFabric is fundamentally different. While AppFabric is packet and flow aware, it is different in that it understands the concept of application sessions in addition to packets and flows. Application sessions are the collection of exchanges used between clients and servers, and can span connections and even protocols. Having a top-down understanding of applications – along with the bottom-up understanding of packet and flow-centered architectures – allows CloudGenix to utilize a unique set of key performance indicators that other platforms simply aren’t able to use. This includes details and statistics about actual application transactions.
