Application architectures have been undergoing transformative changes in recent years, as more distributed applications look to take advantage of scale-out architectures. Big Data is perhaps the most recognizable of this new breed of applications, but the scale-out nature of next-generation apps extends to clustered compute and storage systems as well. Applications put requirements on the network, so it stands to reason that the ideal network for Big Data applications is not the same network that has been around for decades. Plexxi will demonstrate how to build a Big Data fabric that is scalable, manageable, and integrated with surrounding systems like OpenStack and Cloudera.
Plexxi brings SDN to a shipping datacenter solution. The demonstration will showcase Plexxi’s photonically-interconnected switches built around a controller-based architecture. At the core of Plexxi’s networking view is the notion that the job doesn’t end at connectivity, and that traditional leaf-spine architectures miss the point. Not all applications are the same, and not all resources can be neatly tucked into a few adjacent racks. The network needs to account for differences in requirements and data locality.
Join Plexxi’s Ed Henry (Product Management) and Nils Swart (Business Development) as they show:
- Big Data fabric setup, including application and tenant performance requirements
- Automated VLAN provisioning using OpenStack
- Dynamic rack awareness
- Node visualization
- Cloudera integration
- Live fabric utilization heat map to identify congestion
Sign up for the DemoFriday on Friday, October 24 at 10:00 a.m. PDT to watch Plexxi demo Big Data fabrics with OpenStack and Cloudera integration. We’ll see you there!
