Network Operators want to confidently exploit the advantages of virtual infrastructures and OpenStack environments for a cost-effective migration to network functions virtualization (NFV). However, while OpenStack has advantages for network optimization, the downside is that speeds slow dramatically.
It is challenging to run OpenStack environments that support the high network performance requirements of carrier and enterprise networks without breaking the virtual environment. In this DemoFriday, 6WIND and Radware will prove that it is possible to achieve, and sustain virtualized performance above and beyond industry expectations for NFV using an OpenStack environment. By combining 6WIND Virtual Accelerator™ and Radware Alteon® NG VA, network operators can migrate to high performance vADCs while eliminating PCI passthrough and SR-IOV. The end result is a cost effective move to an NFV architecture without compromising the performance or impacting the virtualization environment that their customers expect.
During the high performance vADC demo, 6WIND and Radware will show how to achieve 20 Gbps throughput for Radware Alteon NG VA leveraging existing OpenStack virtual infrastructure, without PCI passthrough or SR-IOV. The demo involves running Radware’s Alteon NG VA within a VA on a standard OpenStack KVMhypervisor leveraging 6WIND Virtual Accelerator. Testing confirmed 6WIND Virtual Accelerator increased performance to 20 Gbps without changing the physical or virtual environment.
