On January 27th, Roy Chua of SDxCentral will moderate a special Virtual Edge Report webinar featuring Versa Networks. He will open up the presentation with an overview of the virtual edge landscape and then the Versa team will take over for a PoC-based presentation on network virtualization.
Network function virtualization (NFV) has made a dramatic step forward in its adoption by service providers around the world. A particular application — virtualized network functions (VNFs) — is to improve the agility and economics of managed services and has seen dozens of PoCs occur over the last 12 months. Specific use cases like vCPE and managed SD-WAN are converting from PoC to field trials and early production deployments. But as with any major adoption of new technology, form factor or service model, there are lots of complexities and challenges to creating a production-ready service. For NFV and managed services, these include integration with existing operations support system (OSS)/ business support systems (BSS) environments, setting up orchestration for agile operations, selecting the right infrastructure at both customer premises and provider edge, and more. But a proper investment in NFV can yield major business results for managed services — far greater agility in both creating and provisioning new services, much lower TCO and increased service profits, and higher overall revenue through the ability to create richer, as well as more targeted, services.
Join Versa Networks and Ciena Blue Planet Division as they discuss:
- How and why to apply NFV to managed services — and what the resulting benefits can be
- The architecture and business logic to make a business case for vCPE and managed SD-WAN
- How to properly manage and orchestrate an NFV-based managed service offering
