With the explosion of consumer end devices and bandwidth requirements, the sheer scale of mobile backhaul networks has been considerably increasing around the world.
To keep up with the demand, there is a typical delegation of deployment to third party deployment teams within Service providers that greatly benefit from zero-touch deployment techniques to help abstract the complexities of vendor NOS bring-up. Over the years we have seen a familiar pattern emerge with these techniques focused on automated bring-up of devices coupled with centralized management of bootstrap configuration and packages.
In line with these requirements, Cisco IOS-XR brings zero touch capabilities out of the box – ranging from DHCP based script and config downloads, bash and python based APIs for provisioning and industry adopted techniques of image management such as iPXE. As we progress further to introduce IOS-XR on access devices and integrate with powerful model driven management tools like NSO, in this session we showcase how the characteristics of automated deployment of devices is set to get simpler and a lot more powerful with IOS-XR at the helm.
