Here at Versa we do see cases where this approach makes sense, but the data shows that these use cases represent a small percentage of enterprise branches. The majority of enterprise branches demand high performance, deep visibility, LAN-to-WAN security, support for local services, and IoT that a pure coffee-shop model alone can’t deliver. In our opinion, enterprises should seek out an SD-WAN solution that can handle both of these use cases with the same platform. And based on the discussions we're having with customers and prospects, this proxy-only architecture is not suitable for their emerging AI-powered branch, which will host small language models and inference for localized intelligence.
