SDxCentral condemns the horrific murder of George Floyd at the hands of the Minneapolis Police Department. SDxCentral also condemns police brutality and the rash of racially motivated murders of the BIPOC (black, indigenous, and people of color) communities.

George Floyd’s murder is yet another reminder of the systemic racism that continues to permeate the criminal justice system and this entire country while holding it back from being the beacon for the world that we say it stands for. Until the scourge of racism is completely eradicated, this country can never legitimately take on that role.

We here at SDxCentral know that we take this stance from a position of privilege. We do not currently have one person of color on our domestic staff, and that is a glaring fault. It is something that we will take more decisive action on going forward.

SDxCentral will also do more as a company and individually to add our voices to the chorus of protests against racial injustice and to advocate for equality. We will listen and work to be meaningful allies. Social issues impact SDxCentral’s community, our readers for whom we strive to create relative and informative content every day, and our employees.

We’ve primarily focused our content on the niches of IT from career advancement to covering new technologies and reporting on the latest happenings within the industry. But we also need to think about how we can help organizations embrace people of color in technology and advocate for racial equality — both in the workplace and within local communities — and to manifest corporate cultures that embrace diversity and create a safe work environment. We are open to suggestions on how to help achieve these goals, and we would especially like to hear from the BIPOC community about how we can be better.

Internally, we are providing our employees with company-supported time to volunteer in their communities to help foster change at a local level. We have also provided our employees with a number of local organizations that they can work with in helping to drive these efforts.

SDxCentral values all of our audience. We want you to know we are here to listen, to brainstorm ideas, and to join in peaceful advocacy for equality. We want everyone to know that this topic is integral to how we want to be as a company going forward, and we also acknowledge that we need your input to help us meet that goal.
