BCN Telecom is the first provider that Windstream is offering its SD-WAN wholesale option to. But the contract is not exclusive. Windstream can sell its SD-WAN solution to other providers as well.
In September, BCN will be able to resell Windstream’s SD-WAN technology by accessing its gateway network. The service provider will also package the technology with additional services to resell. Windstream’s management tool allows BCN to access its gateway network and manage specific customers’ SD-WAN packages.
“Windstream is in the business of providing wholesale services to multiple customers,” said Julian Jacquez, COO at BCN Telecom. “We have a long history with Windstream spanning well over a decade…we have purchased a lot of our legacy services from them including dedicated Internet, private network capabilities, and voice.”
Windstream sources its SD-WAN technology from VeloCloud and offers it as a retail product to enterprises. It is just starting to offer it as wholesale to other service provider partners and customers, said Jacquez.
BCN specializes in offering a number of services to enterprise customers including traditional phone and voice, customer premises equipment (CPE), and multiple Internet access links. Its product suite contains firewalls and routers from companies like Meraki and Cradlepoint. The company has also partnered with Verizon and AT&T to provide 4G LTE as a failover link for its customers to use. BCN will stack any combination of these technologies and manage them at varying degrees per the customers’ request, Jacquez said.
