SolarWinds, an IT management software company based in Austin, Texas, today said it will acquire cloud-based log monitoring and log analytics software provider, Loggly. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.
Loggly brings its software-as-a-service (SaaS) log monitoring and analytics product, which aggregates, structures, and summarizes log data so the end-user can analyze and visualize the data. This will be used to enhance SolarWinds’ current SaaS-based cloud monitoring systems.
SolarWinds’ current SaaS offerings include PaperTrail, a log management software; AppOptics, for application and infrastructure monitoring; and Pingdom, a web performance monitoring service.
The acquisition of Loggly will advance the company’s efforts to build a more comprehensive full-stack of monitoring solutions on a single platform. SolarWinds plans to continue investing in and developing Loggly while integrating and broadening it with the company’s cloud offerings.
The added technology will be used for use cases where end-users require structured log data to answer questions, identify trends, and create reports.
Loggly’s CTO and Vice President of Engineering Manoj Chaudhary and its Vice President of Product Vito Salvaggio will join SolarWinds engineering and product teams. SolarWinds will also acquire a number of members from the Loggly’s core development, operations, support, sales, and marketing teams.
