… As reported by CRN, a restructuring of the RSA security division has led to EMC laying off management and sales staff. The changeup has to do with making RSA more aligned with security market trends. Neither EMC or RSA issued press releases on the matter.
… Citrix acquired Sanbolic, a company focused on storage virtualization technology. In his column for Network World, Zeus Kerravala of ZK Research mentioned that the acquisitions might not stop there for Citrix, if the company wants to directly get into networking. Its options could include Big Switch Networks, as its Big Cloud Fabric enables a scale-out option for OpenStack networks alongside VDI policy control, or it could be Midokura, a company with an end-to-end virtualization product, but little recognition in the market.
… More news out of Citrix this week — Carols Sartorius is the new senior vice president of worldwide sales and services. Also, XenServer 6.5, Citrix’s latest release of its commercial virtualization platform, was announced. It will now offer a full 64-bit kernel architecture and supports enterprise-grade networking, storage, and workload management.
… Mellanox Technologies‘ CloudX platform and other switch products have been chosen by the Monash University in Melbourne, Australia to provide the fabric for its new cloud data center.
