… Docker, the company that helped make Linux containers hot, is finalizing a $40 million to $75 million round of funding that values the company at around $400 million, according to GigaOm. So far, Docker has raised $26 million, including a $15 million Series B that closed in January.
… Abiquo announced a partnership with CloudSigma, adding the latter’s services to Abiquo anyCloud, a multicloud management platform. The collaboration means public cloud users can now manage CloudSigma deployments alongside other next-generation cloud platforms, all from the one portal. As a hybrid cloud management platform, Abiquo allows users to create and manage CloudSigma services while obtaining a full audit trail of activities across all of their public cloud accounts. This should give users better flexibility and accessibility within the cloud and make it simpler to manage several cloud environments.
… Back in June, Google Cloud unveiled a limited preview of SSD-backed persistent disks aimed at high-IOPS workloads. It’s now made SSD persistent disks generally available in all Google Compute Engine zones, as the company reminded us in a blog posting this week.
… Lot of news from A10 Networks, as it announced this week that Symantec’s Certificate Intelligence Center now supports A10 Thunder application delivery controllers (ADCs), and it will now integrate the Webroot Bright Cloud Web Classification Service into the Thunder ADC. Security enhancements have also been included to the Thunder ADC portfolio, giving enterprise customers the ability to combat security threats that could bog down productivity and revenue.
… Overture released the latest model of its Overture 6500 service aggregation and switching platform, featuring a new 8-slot chassis, the 6508. Among the new software features for the platform: cross-card bonding between copper and TDM groups.
… Glue Networks brought on Stefan Dietrich as its new vice president of product strategy. Dietrich previously held positions at AXA Technology Services, Thomson Reuters, and Deutsche Bank.
…Zadara Storage debuted its Virtual Private Storage Array (VPSA) “On-Premises”-as-a-service” (OPaaS) product. It’s a managed, pay-as-you-go SAN and NAS service in the cloud. One could consider it an alternative to on-premises storage.
… Openet announced a virtualized version of its BSS, supposedly letting mobile operators more quickly monetize new capabilities like VoLTE QoS management, shared data plans, and sponsored data in a matter of weeks, as opposed to months or years in the case of traditional systems.
… The Open Networking Foundation announced that 24 ONF vendor member companies will participate in its first global SDN Solutions Showcase. Set for Oct. 14-17 at the SDN and OpenFlow World Congress in Dusseldorf, Germany, the showcase will have four categories of demonstrations that highlight an array of use cases.
