NetApp has unveiled updates to its storage portfolio with the introduction of three new systems in the ASA A-Series, which focus on accelerating block workloads for diverse organizations. These new offerings, part of an intelligent data infrastructure, provide customers with options that are designed to enhance operational efficiency.

The newly introduced high-performance systems—A20, A30, and A50—are aimed at making block storage accessible for critical applications, including databases and virtual machines. With a starting price of approximately $25,000, these systems cater to both small and remote deployments.

Key features of the ASA A-Series include:

  • Simplicity: These systems allow for rapid deployment, fast provisioning, and straightforward protection. Common management protocols streamline operations across the storage ecosystem.
  • Power: The systems promise enhanced performance and the ability to scale from small deployments to expansive petabyte capacities, backed by a high availability guarantee and robust ransomware recovery mechanisms.
  • Affordability: The ASA systems present a cost-effective option with upfront costs generally 30-50 percent lower than competitors, alongside enhanced efficiency and lower operational costs.

Sandeep Singh, Senior Vice President and General Manager of Enterprise Storage at NetApp, acknowledged the company’s commitment to innovation and described the system upgrades as an expansion of their comprehensive storage portfolio, highlighting integrated cyber resiliency features.

Additionally, the new ASA systems will be available as part of a FlexPod converged infrastructure solution, aimed at simplifying data center operations and accelerating application deployment with pre-validated architectures.

NetApp is also enhancing its cyber resiliency capabilities, set to launch an advanced ransomware protection feature later this year, aimed at expanding cybersecurity solutions to a broader range of customers.

According to Fabrizio Garrone, Enterprise Solution Director at Aruba, the partnership with NetApp enhances IT offerings through intelligent data infrastructure, which aids in optimizing data centers to meet increasing cloud service demands.

Scott Sinclair of Enterprise Strategy Group remarked on the modernization opportunities presented by the ASA A-Series systems, emphasizing their potential role in supporting the evolving data strategies of businesses.
