Masergy designed a custom hybrid WAN for Eurostar, a company that operates a high-speed train that links the UK to France and Belgium via the Channel Tunnel.
Eurostar is using Masergy’s private WAN — MPLS — to connect all of its locations and to provide new services such as the ability to check arrival and departure times on the day of travel. Eurostar uses the WAN for applications for train stations, offices, ticketing, and call centers across the United Kingdom, France, Belgium, and India.
The private WAN includes connectivity options and network functions, said Paul Ruelas, Masergy’s director of product management, in an email to SDxCentral. The hybrid WAN also delivers private connections for Eurostar to Amazon Web Services (AWS) via AWS Direct Connect. Through dedicated connections Masergy has established with Amazon, customers can be partitioned into one or more virtual network interfaces.
In addition to deploying the hybrid WAN, Eurostar is also using Masergy’s Unified Enterprise Security, which “is Masergy’s own patented technology, service, and expertise,” said Ruelas. “Masergy provides 24×7 network security monitoring, behavioral analytics to detect aberrant network behavior, and machine learning to continually understand changes in network behaviors and spot changing threat signatures.”
