SAN FRANCISCO – Mandiant launched its digital risk protection service this week during the RSA Conference to proactively defend against emerging threats. One of the key parts of this service is a digital threat monitoring service that is designed to continuously monitor the internet, including the deep web, underground markets, and social media.
Gaining visibility externally into malicious activity targeting the organizations or exposed assets can be challenging. To address this issue, Mandiant uses its multi-vendor extended detection and response (XDR) platform to offer an intelligence-led view into organizations’ attack surfaces.
The new digital risk protection service comprises Mandiant Advantage Digital Threat Monitoring, Attack Surface Management, and Threat Intelligence. Mandiant offers it as both a standalone, self-managed solution and a professional service.
The service is designed to allow security teams to identify vulnerabilities and risk factors impacting the extended enterprise and supply chain; help understand which threat actors are targeting the customer, what they are after, and how they are planning to attack; use threat intelligence from Mandiant’s frontline investigations and expert analysis to help prioritize defensive measures, the vendor clams.
Supply chain compromise became the second most common initial infection vector in 2021 with 17% of intrusions investigated by Mandiant, according to the vendor’s recent report.
“Monitoring supply chain vendors for active threat actor chatter and exposures is as important as trying to secure subsidiaries and conducting compromise assessments in connection with a merger or acquisition,” TJ Alldridge, senior product marketing manager at Mandiant wrote in a blog post. The new service “helps monitor and provide visibility into these complex situations.”
Threat Monitoring Uncovers Chatter About Your OrganizationAs one of the key drivers within the digital risk protection portfolio, Mandiant Advantage Digital Threat Monitoring module launched on Monday and it has already attracted more than 80 customers in less than a week, according to Josh Bass, director of product management at Mandiant.
The service is backed by Mandiant’s existing threat intelligence and tracking capabilities to help customers uncover chatter from the deep and dark web, blogs, underground markets, social media, paste sites, and more, about their brand, senior executives, technology resources, and third-party suppliers and partners.
Through the service, users can get early threat notification of an impending attack or an existing undetected data or credential leak to faster respond and remediate.
“Internal attack surface visibility is no longer good enough,” Mandiant CPO Chris Key said in a statement. “To stay relentless against increasingly sophisticated and persistent cyber attacks, defenders must gain insight into the external attack surface as well.”
“Driven by Mandiant’s frontline intelligence and expertise, Digital Threat Monitoring and Mandiant’s digital risk protection solution empower defenders to quickly and easily transform insight into action to mitigate risk and help stay ahead of threats," Key added.
