Infineon Technologies Asia Pacific Pte Ltd and Thailand Science Research and Innovation (TSRI) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to collaborate in developing the semiconductor ecosystem in Thailand. This partnership will focus on supporting the growth of startups and small to medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) leveraging Infineon's semiconductor technology.

The parties aim to create an ecosystem that encourages innovation through collaborative efforts with local entrepreneurs and academic institutions. Additionally, they will work on upskilling the workforce and enhancing educational programs related to semiconductor products.

Chua Chee Seong, President and Managing Director of Infineon Technologies Asia Pacific, expressed enthusiasm for the partnership, stating this collaboration will promote innovation in artificial intelligence (AI) and the Internet of Things (IoT), while also contributing to the country's digital economy. They plan to foster a robust and cyber-resilient infrastructure that aligns with goals for decarbonization and digitalization.

The agreement includes the development of a secure and scalable Artificial Intelligence of Things (AIoT) platform focused on supporting cybersecurity certifications and innovative product solutions. This will encompass frameworks related to AIoT Edge, IoT device security, firmware, middleware, and data services.

Prof. Dr. Supachai Pathumnakul, Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Higher Education, Science, Research and Innovation, highlighted the commitment to increasing research funding in higher education institutions. He noted that enhancing STEM education will equip students with the necessary skills to succeed in future job markets.

Infineon recently began construction on a new semiconductor backend production site in Samut Prakan, which will optimize and diversify its manufacturing processes in Thailand.
