France-based communications and IT service provider Hub One selected Versa Networks’ Cloud IP platform with its software-defined wide area networking (SD-WAN) and software-defined security (SD-security) to provide to its customers.
Versa’s Cloud IP platform is a cloud-native, multi-tenant software that has three main components. Its FlexVNF is for an intelligent and distributed edge. Director is its management, orchestration, and monitoring application. And Analytics is an integrated analytics engine. Additionally, it has an integrated security layer with firewall and unified threat management.
Managed service partners, such as Hub One, can deploy the platform to offer their customers SD-WAN and SD-security capabilities.
Hub One delivers managed IP/MPLS services and managed WiFi in French airport zones. The company wanted to offer its small- and medium-business customers a service they could bundle and that included SD-security hosted natively in the SD-WAN service.
Hub One also liked the simplified management of the Versa platform with its single-pane of glass for SD-WAN and security, said Hector Avalos, Versa’s VP of sales and business development for EMEA.
According to Avalos, “Multi-tenancy was critical to enable a scalable and secure infrastructure to provide different managed service offering.” The service is thus deployable on third-party networks, and customers can integrate non-Hub One services, while still receiving the core benefits.
The multi-tenancy and segmentation functionalities met the need for Hub One’s desired minimal infrastructure impact and footprint, without losing the ability to provide granular levels of operational control to its customers. This enables secure segmentation between multiple customers, lines-of-business, and services offered by customers.
“Specifically, it provided protection with isolation, encryption, and contextual security in order to harden and protect the user, device, and application traffic,” said Avalos.
