Versa Leadership Loses One, Gains Another
Former-Versa Chief Marketing Officer Mark Weiner was hired as the inaugural chief marketing officer at security startup Balbix. Prior to working at Versa for two years, Weiner held marketing roles at StorSimple (acquired by Microsoft), Virtela (acquired by NTT), NetScaler (acquired by Citrix), Redback Networks, and Cisco. Weiner will help Balbix grow its predictive breach risk management platform.
While Versa has not named a new chief marketing officer, it hired Rob Mustarde to the role of senior vice president of worldwide sales. Mustarde comes from Ruckus Wireless most recently and held positions at Peribit Networks, Riverbed, Alteon WebSystems. At Versa, Mustarde will help accelerate its digital transformation.
Former Dell Exec Joins NetApp
Brad Anderson was hired by NetApp as senior vice president and general manager of its cloud infrastructure business. Anderson most recently served as the president and COO of Gravitant, a cloud service brokerage company. Previously, he was the president and general manager of Dell’s enterprise solutions group for seven years.
In his new role, Anderson will report to NetApp CEO George Kurian. He’ll help customers build and expand their cloud-architected data centers.
Aryaka Snags Two From Big Switch
Two executives from Big Switch Networks’ sales team joined Aryaka this past month.
Claudio Perugini, formerly Big Switch’s vice president of worldwide channels, was hired as Aryaka senior vice president of global channels. Perugini will be tasked with growing the SD-WAN company’s global partner program and global footprint.
Big Switch’s former Vice President of Sales for America, Greg Orr, joined Aryaka as the vice president of sales for its Americas business. Orr will head up the business and sales organization for the United States, Canada, Mexico, and Latin America.
Movers and Shakers
Intel promoted four of its corporate officers. Leslie Culbertson became the executive vice president and GM of its product assurance and security group; Ann Kelleher was named the senior vice president of the technology and manufacturing group; Michael Mayberry is now the senior vice president and chief technology officer; and Matthew Smith became senior vice president and chief human resources officer.
Former President of Intel Renée James became the CEO of a new chip venture, Ampere Computing.
CenturyLink’s Executive Vice President and Chief Technology Officer Aamir Hussain joined the MEF Board of Directors.
Talend selected Eric Johnson as its CIO. Johnson was formerly the CIO of DocuSign.
Dell Boomi promoted Steve Wood as its chief product officer. Wood came to Dell Boomi last year through the acquisition of ManyWho, a cloud and low-code development platform.
Aaron Bean joined Nutanix as its chief human resources officer from Skyhigh Networks.
Extreme Networks appointed Maryam Alexandrian-Adams, who formerly held leadership roles at Dell and Wyse Technology, to its board of directors.
Cloud networking provider Teridion named Manav Mishra as its vice president of product management. Mishra was previously HPE’s VP of product management.
Former HPE CEO Meg Whitman was appointed as the CEO of a new entertainment and media venture backed by Jeffrey Katzenberg.
Infinera hired Glenn Laxdal, previously of Ericsson North America, as its senior vice president of product management, and Alexander Derecho as its senior vice president of global customer service.
Amy O’Connor was promoted to chief data and information officer at Cloudera.
Leonard Donnelly joined Netronome as its senior vice president of corporate and business development.
The former CEO of Lacework, a cloud security startup, Jack Kudale was named the chief operating officer of Cavirin.
Network monitoring company LiveAction named R. Brooks Borcherding as president.
DigitalRoute appointed Johan Arpe as its chief financial officer. Arpe was previously the CFO at Varnish Software.
Application delivery company F5 named four new members to its executive team. Kara Sprague joined as the senior vice president and GM of application delivery controller; Ram Krishnan became the senior vice president and GM of security; Tom Fountain was named executive vice president and chief strategy officer; and Ana White joined F5 as its executive vice president and chief human resources officer.
Synchronoss, a cloud, messaging, and digital provider, appointed Mary Clark as chief marketing officer and executive vice president of product.
Packet optical supplier Coriant named Vikram Shanbhag as managing director for the company’s Asia Pacific South region.
Kevin Coppins joined Alcatel-Lucent Enterprise as its vice president of sales for North America.
Security and cloud provider Ribbon Communications appointed Tony Scarfo as its executive vice president of products and research and development.
CA Technologies named Ava Hahn as executive vice president and general counsel.
Software-defined access provider Safe-T named John Parmley as its U.S. CEO.
CloudHealth, a cloud service management company, hired Greg Nicastro, previously an EVP at Veracode, as its chief product officer, a new role for the company.
8×8, a cloud communications provider, named Ali Arsanjani as its vice president of artificial intelligence and machine learning; and Manu Mukerji as its senior director of the same department.
