Siris Capital Group Hires Former Cisco Exec
Private equity firm Siris Capital Group hired Joe Cozzolino as an executive partner. Cozzolino joins from Cisco where he served as the senior vice president and worldwide general manager of Cisco Services.
At Siris, Cozzolino will work with the firm’s investment professionals and other executive partners, as well as oversee the operations of the companies in Siris’ portfolio. Siris is a private equity firm that focuses in data, telecommunications, technology, and technology-enabled business service companies.
Within Siris’ current portfolio is Mavenir, a communications software provider it acquired in August 2016; Pulse Secure, an enterprise security company it acquired in October 2014; and Stratus Technologies, a software provider with an edge computing platform it acquired in September 2014.
Cozzolino is the most recent Cisco executive to leave the firm. Former Cisco SVP and Chief Strategy Officer Hilton Romanski left Cisco and joined the Siris in September. David Ulevitch left in October to join venture capital firm Andreessen Horowitz.
CenturyLink CTO Joins MEF Board
CenturyLink Chief Technology Officer Andrew Dugan joined the MEF board of directors.
Dugan joins a number of other tech executives on the board. This includes Shawn Hakl, the SVP of business products at Verizon; Kevin O’Toole, the SVP of product management at Comcast Business; Roman Pacewicz, the chief product officer of AT&T Business; and Ralph Santitoro, the head of SDN, NFV, and SD-WAN services at Fujitsu Network Communications, to name a few.
Dugan was named CTO of CenturyLink in November, replacing its former CTO Aamir Hussain. He joined the company as its VP of technology planning and network architecture in November 2017 when the operator bought Level 3. Dugan had served as the CTO of Level 3 prior to the acquisition.
Movers and Shakers
The OpenFog Consortium named Matt Vasey as the chairman and president of the organization. Vasey has served on the board since 2015.
Former SVP of IT and CenturyLink Atilla Tinic was hired as SVP and chief information officer at Dish.
Former CEO of Dish Network and Sirius Satellite Radio Joe Clayton died at the age of 69.
Carsten Brinkschulte, CEO of Core Network Dynamics, left the company after it was acquired by Twilio.
David Kenney, former head of IBM’s cognitive solutions business, was appointed as chief executive at data and measurement company Nielsen Holdings.
B.Yond appointed former Netcracker executive Chance Mannina as its chief revenue officer.
Thomas Hansen was promoted from chief revenue officer at Carbon Black to chief operations officer.
CloudBolt Software named Steve Scribner as chief financial officer and Kaitlin Moran as director of customer success.
Silver Peak reorganized its Europe, Middle East, and Africa go-to-market team with four new appointments. It hired Mike Kontowtt as director of sales, James Houselander as director of field marketing, Werner Waldhier as country manager for central and eastern region, and it promoted Pierre Langlois to regional sales director of Southern EMEA and country manager for France.
Mike Galvin and Jennifer Camelon joined the board of directors at Martello Technologies.
Serverless software provider Stackery appointed Abner Germanow as its first chief marketing officer.
Portnox hired Tomer Shemer-Buchbut as its vice president of products.
Digital Realty named Gregory Wright as chief information officer and Mark Smith as managing director, Asia Pacific.
Search and analytics firm ThoughtSpot hired two new executives; Monica McEwen was hired as VP of public sector and Toni Adams was named VP of global channels and alliances.
Financial services company Robinhood poached 20-year Amazon veteran Jason Warnick as its chief financial officer (CFO).
17-year Amazon executive Dave Stephensen joined Airbnb as its CFO.
Data management company Druva hired Mike Palmer as its chief product officer.
Security orchestration, automation, and response company Siemplify hired Bradd Barmettler as global head of channel. Barmettler joins from Carbon Black.
Security company Verodin named Anomali Co-founder Colby DeRodeff as its chief technology officer.
Security firm LogPoint hired Chris Sullivan as senior director channels and alliances for the Americas. It also named Mike Vaillancourt as director of sales engineering for the Americas.
Video and audio telecommunications company Lifesize hired Matt Hibbard as its chief financial officer.
Former head of Oracle Cloud Thomas Kurian replaced Diane Greene as CEO of Google Cloud.
Extreme Networks hired former CA Technologies executive Rémi Thomas as CFO.
Nokia broke up its Customer Operations business into two geographic regions that will be led by new leadership.
Over 10,000 Verizon employees accepted a severance package to leave the telecom company.
