Aruba Networks, a Hewlett Packard Enterprise (HPE) company, is allowing customers to buy its mobile network products on a subscription basis. Customers can now procure Aruba’s products on-demand, including networking products for Wi-Fi and wide area network (WAN) connectivity, as well as its consulting and support services.
And the networking products can be managed for customers by resellers and for service providers using Aruba Central, which is hosted in the public cloud. The portal enables Aruba resellers to offer managed services to their customers and to support multi-tenancy.
According to Aruba, IT organizations are demanding this new type of procurement model, or Network-as-a-Service (NaaS), to scale as they grow and to be more agile.
Organizations can now quickly add new network services to support mobile and Internet of Things (IoT) use cases.
The initial NaaS products are being offered via Aruba in collaboration with HPE Financial Services, HPE Technology Services, Accenture, and Deloitte.
HPE acquired Aruba in 2015 for $2.7 billion. The company also works with HPE’s software-defined networking (SDN) ecosystem for enterprise customers, including the HPE SDN App Store.
Recently HPE's CEO Meg Whitman said the company was looking for "more ROI-based, smart acquisitions like Aruba."
