With plans on track to split from parent company Symantec, Veritas is re-establishing itself as its own entity with a new focus on information management.
In this video, Veritas CMO Ben Gibson talks to Cisco Senior Director Shashi Kiran about how the companies are working together to simplify customers’ data management and recovery operations so organizations can more effectively store, access, and protect their data.
The shift to information management is a natural direction for the longtime leader in backup and recovery, according to Gibson. “Enterprises of all sizes must contend with and manage the amount of data that’s pouring into their organizations,” he says in the video. “Fundamentally, Veritas is about providing innovations and solutions that really help our customers manage that data, turn it into information, and do interesting things to help them impact their business.”
Veritas is integrating Cisco’s Application Centric Infrastructure (ACI) into its NetBackup product suite to help protect and secure information and manage it across hypervisors, servers, storage infrastructures, applications, and databases. The joint solution combines NetBackup’s backup and recovery abilities with ACI’s application-aware infrastructure and open architecture to help IT teams quickly access protected information whether it’s on premise, in the public cloud, private cloud, or hybrid cloud.
The integrated solution helps IT teams better deliver on SLAs by ensuring they have maximum performance and information availability when they do backup and recovery. And by providing better visibility into the network, storage infrastructure, and the data itself going across it, the joint solution offers customers a far more sophisticated, intelligent way to manage their information.
“It’s not just about information availability, but also the insight you can derive from that information,” Gibson says. “The quicker you have access to information and have confidence that it’s protected, the faster you can get that assurance and make smarter decisions.”
