Telco NFV is not about virtualizing the different telecom applications and simply deploying them on a couple of servers in any data center. There are many aspects to consider, and an important key success factor for telco NFV is to seamlessly provide connectivity between the telecom operator’s IP/MPLS network and a cloud environment.

Presenter Francois Lemarchand, Ericsson’s director of strategy and business development, will show how to link the virtual network functions (VNFs) to the existing IP/MPLS infrastructure, extending encapsulation all the way up to the virtual machines (VMs) in order to capitalize on the benefits of telco NFV.
Francois will also touch on vSwitch and DC gateway connectivity facilitated by an SDN Controller, the necessity of the REST API for OpenStack Neutron and the SDN Controller, as well as SDN-based L3VPN integrating with OpenStack Neutron and OpenDaylight.
