One of the main challenges in getting SDN more widely adopted is the lack of real-world examples, along with details on how to get started. The Open Networking User Group (ONUG) is holding an event on October 29-30 in New York City to address these and other impediments to rapid uptake of SDN. Nick Lippis (ONUG Chairman and co-founder) and his team at ONUG are helping pull together SDN users and experts in what looks to be a lively open discussion forum, as Nick shared with us recently, “the ONUG Board is gratified by the industry and IT response to our second ONUG Conference and our first ONUG Academy. What started as a small group of IT users trying to navigate through costly, manually configured and limited offerings has blossomed into a strong user-driven open networking movement supported by IT representatives from financial services, retail, media, manufacturing and cloud and service providers who will be joining us in NYC later this month to cast their votes on user case studies and drive the deployment of open networking solutions.”
The tutorial leads, including Rob Sherwood, J.R. Rivers, Brent Salisbury, Srini Seetharaman and Matt Davy, are SDN experts that we at SDxCentral have come to know well and whom I have huge respect for. And with conference presenters from Citigroup, Bank of America, JPMorgan Chase, Fidelity, FaceBook, Verizon Terremark and Comcast, attendees will be sure to get real-world perspective from industry leaders.
