With the growth of multitenant cloud architectures, the complexity of network security has exploded by orders of magnitude. An upcoming report webinar with Nuage Networks will look at how principles of software-defined networking (SDN) can be applied to network security to minimize operational complexity, errors, and time-to-deploy.
Compared to network policies, security policies are likely to be more complex and application-specific, change more frequently, and encompass a wider range of devices from multiple vendors. Nuage Senior Director Hari Krishnan will discuss how the same SDN principles that configure overlay networks for automated, on-demand application deployment also can be used to simplify and automate IT security tasks for cloud deployments.
Network administrators today typically use microsegmentation to enforce security policies at a very granular level between individual workloads and applications. The webinar on June 15th will look at how an SDN-based network overlay can fully automate microsegmentation policy configurations to enable a new generation of use cases based on network attributes alone.
To be ideally suited for security policy automation, SDN platforms must include a core set of security analytics and monitoring capabilities that go beyond what was initially envisioned for the network and SDN platforms. This webinar will look at why security policy automation requires:
- A flexible and open service insertion and chaining capability that can integrate with a wide range of virtual and physical security appliances and solutions
- SDN policy console that can integrate smoothly with security policy management platforms to fully leverage third-party solutions and maintain security policy processes
- Correlation of virtual and physical network topologies for secure networks to facilitate troubleshooting and fault isolation, and validate compliance
The security report webinar will look at how the Nuage Networks SDN platform delivers logical network isolation and microsegmentation through its own virtual router/switch, as well as in conjunction with leading security appliance vendors. Palo Alto Networks also will join the discussion to explain how it integrated its next-generation firewall into the platform.
