The Ixia Black Book primers on test methodologies now have new updates to the “SDN/OpenFlow” and “Converged Data Center” editions. The volumes are part of the company’s complimentary series of eBooks outlining test methodologies for important next-generation technologies.
The Black Book series teaches IT professionals about new technologies and key testing strategies to verify network device and system functionality and performance. The books provide step-by-step instructions using Ixia’s test platform and applications to demonstrate each test methodology.
The SDN/OpenFlow Black Book verifies functionalities and performance of SDN implementations including OpenFlow. In the updated version, Ixia has added information on test methodologies for bandwidth rate limiting and QoS validation. Other methodologies in the eBook test include:
- OpenFlow switch setup, function, and forwarding
- Switch flow failover performance
- OpenFlow controller scalability
- Packet-out rate calculation
In the Converged Data Center Black Book, Ixia added the VXLAN unicast VTEP reachability and forwarding test. The eBook also includes tests in areas including data center bridging (DCB), Fibre Channel over Ethernet (FCoE), Fibre Channel, storage I/O performance, Layer 2 multipath (L2MP) fabrics, and network virtualization overlays.
Other Black Books in the series feature methodologies for network impairment and Carrier Ethernet. The series part of a larger collection of educational Black Books on network, IP, and wireless test methodologies for areas including application delivery, IPv6 transition technologies, quality-of-service validation, and test automation.
