You may have noticed a new byline at SDxCentral. I’m Sue Marek, and I just joined the site this week as its VP of content. My goal is to extend the site’s coverage and expand our editorial team to help transform SDxCentral from a niche startup into a media powerhouse.
One of the key reasons I found SDxCentral so appealing is that its founders actually know the technologies that we are writing about. Co-founders Matt Palmer and Roy Chua both have a long history of developing and deploying these technologies, so they know exactly what our readers want and who our advertisers are trying to reach.
Plus, unlike many traditional media company executives, they are committed to developing and investing in new search and social media software so we can deliver relevant and quality content to our audience.
This commitment to technology and deep knowledge of the industry has been key to SDxCentral’s tremendous growth so far, and I expect it will continue as we tap new audiences and advertisers with software that our competitors can’t replicate.
And growing that audience is particularly challenging now that the number of telecom service providers is shrinking because of consolidation. But SDxCentral doesn’t just focus on service providers – we also cater to enterprises and their specific networking challenges, which makes us unique as well.
Some of you may recognize my name. I’ve been covering the telecom industry for more than 20 years, writing primarily about wireless networks and operators. I spent the last nine years as editor in chief of FierceMarkets Telecom Group, overseeing a number of the company’s newsletters and websites, including FierceWireless.
I’m thrilled to be joining such stellar editors as Craig Matsumoto and Linda Hardesty. On my beat, I’ll be delving into how IoT and 5G will likely play a key role in the transformation of networks and what this means for all the players in the ecosystem.
I’m based in Denver and working with SDxCentral’s growing team here. So if you are in the area – or need a reason to come to Colorado other than to enjoy some great skiing and sunshine – give me a shout. I’d love to hear your thoughts on how SDxCentral can help you do your job.
